[Details taken from Diocese of Norwich website]
This service has become part of the established Norfolk annual calendar and reminds us of the spiritual nature of the Abbey site on this the 1000th anniversary of the foundation of St Benet’s Abbey. It is organised by the Community of St Benet’s, successors to the Brothers of St Benet’s.
The preacher this year will be the Rt Revd Dr Alan Winton, Bishop of Thetford, in his capacity as acting Bishop of Norwich, who in turn is, by tradition, the Abbot of St Benet’s. He will be joined at the foot of the Oak Cross which marks the point of the Abbey’s high altar by Clergy and Choirs representing the local Christian Community. The North Walsham Salavation Army Band will accompany the hymn singing.
Visitors are advised that the parking is in fields and therefore on uneven ground. Only cars carrying demonstrably disabled passengers will be allowed onto the Abbey Site.
